Romans Chapter 1 [verses 1-17]
"The opening letter, to the Christians in Rome"
Chapter 1 [verses 1-17]
Chapter 1 [verses 1-17]
"The gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life, was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake. And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. [Romans 1:3-5]
Gospel is defined as announcement of good news beforehand.
In other words, GOOD NEWS is the Proclamation OF PLEASANT WORDS, that have been promised beforehand, by the prophets of the old. A promise that was PLEDGED to us before hand, through his prophets, in the Holy Scriptures.
"And I will put enmity between you [the snake, the devil] and the woman, and between your seed, and her seed; He will BRUISE your head, and you shall bruise his heel." [Genesis 3:15]
Regarding Jesus, the descendant of DAVID, who through the spirit of HOLINESS was appointed to rule in power, by the Resurrection from the dead. It is through Jesus that we-sinners, have received an extended hand of mercy, grace, and compassion to wash away our sins, and impurities by the blood of JESUS. We, whether Jews or Gentiles now have received grace, an extended hand of mercy, and compassion to cover our iniquities, and preach the Gospel to many nations, of the Good News of Jesus.
I too walked in darkness, and did many awful things that were not pleasing to God, but God had mercy on me, and compassion to forgive me of my sins. He washed me CLEAN, and purified my soul, made it whiter than snow. Anyone who comes to Christ can be cleansed by the BLOOD, that flows from CALVARY, the blood that washes all the sins away.
If you believe that the lamb of God takes away your sins, by washing you from the inside out. then you too can be accepted into plan.
How amazing, and wonderful does that sound? No more sacrifices of the lamb, birds, but an invitation to believe, in the finished work of Christ. OH thank you JESUS!! We are undeserving, yet you see us, and you accept us! Oh how wonderful you are LORD!
As we study further let us jump into verses 6-7
Again the invitation is OPEN to become God's very own, his sanctified, holy people, set apart for his purposes. If you have not yet, you have an opportunity right now, to become one of his, by the repentance of your sins, and accepting his plan of Salvation.
As we move on in scripture, we notice Paul taking his time, to let the Christians know that he is praying for them, and is interceding for them, and their needs in verses 8-10. We too, Disciples of Christ, have a great responsibility, to pray for God's people, and to impart, or pass on the gift of faith, and encouragement upon those who do not have it, for the edification of the body of Christ. Iron sharpens iron, as mentioned in verses 11-13
Paul was not afraid to pass on the Good News of Jesus, he was glad, and rejoiced at every chance, and opportunity that was presented to him.
The GOSPEL OF RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD BY FAITH TO ANYONE WHO BELIEVES.
Do you believe? The requirement is to trust, and submit to the Will of GOD. Will you submit, and be obedient to his command?
